Google Gemini Changes - Summer 2025

For the AI lovers out there, Google Gemini changed in 3 significant ways this summer.

Accessing and Reviewing Activity

When you are signed in and have Gemini Apps Activity enabled on your Android device, all your interactions such as prompts, live chat transcripts (including audio, video, and screen share) are stored in your Google Account. You can review them anytime within the Gemini apps by tapping your profile picture -> “Gemini Apps Activity,” or by visiting My Activity in your Google Account.

Deleting Activity

You can delete the stored interactions: everything (“All time”), recent activity (last hour or day), a specific date range, or individual interactions. The same deletion controls are available in both the mobile and web UI. When you delete a Live chat, all associated audio, video, transcripts, and screen recordings are also removed.

Disabling Gemini Apps Activity & Auto Deletion

Users aged 18 and over have Gemini Apps activity turned on by default. To turn it off, tap your profile in the app -> “Gemini Apps Activity,” then choose “Turn off” (or “Turn off and delete activity”). Even after turning it off, your Gemini conversations are temporarily retained for up to 72 hours to ensure the service runs smoothly, but they won’t appear in your activity feed.

Auto-deletion settings allow you to automatically remove activity older than 3, 18 (default), or 36 months; opting out is also possible. Google outlines that once deletion is triggered (manually or automatically) data is first removed from view and then purged from storage systems.
